Day of Awakening

Today is the day of the walk out protesting illegal immigration.

Companies will close and supporters will wear white shirts showing their support.

I hope that you all step back and really see the big picture here because one message that no one can deny. and that message is just how porous and insecure that our borders really are.

By over 15 million - yes, that is how porous our borders are.

And how appropriate they march on May 1 - socialist day. Hardly a coincidence.

I predict their efforts will have zero (0) impact on our economy and just be a nuisance to those in traffic. We don't need them, we don't want them.

It's hardly a sign of porous borders, considering millions of them walked right through border control legally, and are now staying on expired visas. A 500 ft wall won't stop them.

ps--you're already wrong about the effect on the economy; factories are shutting down today because there's no one to work in them.

Torrid,
If "factories are shutting down today because there's no one to work in them" it is because the hiring practices of that company are flawed and they did not take steps to verify the legal status of their employees.
Had they hired legal immigrants or American born employees, they would not have had an issue.
They brought this on themselves and will suffer by their own hand.

Golly. I went to work today. Fact is, I didn't notice any impact, aside from the news choppers circling around, trying to feed things.

A couple of my co-workers are recently naturalized US citizens, and they're really ticked off that all these dorks are out running around, demanding "rights" that they have not earned and don't deserve.

I don't talk politics with these two, as a rule. They're just so pissed they couldn't hold it in, and I was kinda freaked. They make me look like a flaming torrid liberal.

I have already e-mailed Tyson and Pilgrims pride to inform them of the boycot my family and friends are haveing. I will not buy any products from companys who supported this protest and who hire illegal aliens. I call for a Nation Wide boycot on the companys who break our immigration laws. We need to take back our country!! Littlerebel@blogstream.com

I went to class, just like every other day. The bus was just as crowded, classes were just as full and people were spending their money as they normally would - to eat lunch or buy books and supplies. Heck, I even bought a new CD. I think all the demonstration did was piss people off.
For myself, this has been a true eye opener. We cannot continue to go merrily along our way in this country and expect that we are safe from harm. If more than 12 million people can slide into our midst, soak up our resources and be invisible, then I would say we are not very safe. Homeland security my ass!
