News man Walter Cronkite

CBS News--
Walter Cronkite, the legend of CBS died Friday in his New York home after a long illness.

He was 92

"--And that's the way it is.--"

I remember watching Cronkite on the nightly news. I have never really been a regular watcher of TV news, especially nowadays where they are mostly sound bites and non-informative waste of time. however back in Cronkite's day, there was at least some investigative reporting.

Rest in peace, Walter.

R.I.P. Uncle Walter. While I was not really old enough or wise enough when he was on the air some things have come to my attention as of late that have skewed my view on good ole Uncle Walter. Not the least of which is his complicity in determining that we had in effect lost the Viet Nam war. I fear that although I would have preferred that we never were involved in Viet Nam, and I was of draft age at that time so I had a vested interest, we still have veterans affected by that decision today. Also I wonder how much his trust in a New World Order, One World Government tainted his so called honest reporting.
From his acceptance speech accepting the 1999 Norman Cousins Global Governance Award he said:

"It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace.

To do that, of course, we Americans will have to yield up some of our sovereignty. That would be a bitter pill. It would take a lot of courage, a lot of faith in the new order."
