Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) formally announces he is running for president

The Hill--

Representative Tom Tancredo formally announced Monday that he is running for president and that his campaign would be focused on combating illegal immigration.
“I am running for president to give Americans a voice, to win this fight [on illegal immigration],” Tancredo said in his announcement address on an Iowa talk-radio show....
“Unlike legal immigrants, who have for more than 200 years come to be a part of our nation, illegal immigrants today come to be apart from our nation,” Tancredo said Monday. “The great tradition of American assimilation has broken down.”

Tancredo is an advocate for tighter border security and an opponent of amnesty or guest worker programs for illegal aliens.

Tancredo has also publicly questioned the extradition of Dwayne "Dog" Chapman to Mexico.
{Congressman Tom Tancredo}--

I think this time around presidential candidates are going to find it very difficult to avoid the issue of illegal immigration.

I hope you are right. I don't plan on voting for anyone that isn't for securing the border, no-amnesty and the self deporting of 20-30 million illegals. I suggest that everyone change their party registration to Independent to send a message to the Rep and Dem party leaders that business as usual is not exceptable. You can always change back to your party of choice right before the primary if anyone is presented that is worth voting for.

So far Tancredo is the only candidate worth my vote.

Go Tom GO!

the only problem with party changing registration to Independent is that Electoral College will not allow an Independent to have a chance.

I was not suggesting the candidates change their party, just the public. If millions of us made that jester the party leaders would have to take notice. In Oregon you can change you affiliation any time up till about 30 days before the election.

I think his biggest problem will be raising funds.. Instead of changing your party, send Tom money!
