Recall efforts began for Lane County Commissioner Bobbie Green

Register Guard--

Paperwork for the signature gathering effort to fire, err, I mean recall the first of the "ignore the voter gang" Lane County commissioner Bobby Green has begun on Monday by Ben Pooler, chief petitioner of the "We Said No" political action committee.

Green, is the only one of the three commissioners who voted in favor of enacting a income tax just four months after the voters said no to the measure that is eligible for recall.

Election rules prohibit recall of Lane County officials until they have served at least six months of their current term according to Roxanne Marshall, election supervisor.

Once the partition is approved, organizers have 90 days to collect 4,274 of the needed signatures.
this recall effort is more than just recalling three commissioners who enacted a tax that the voters had rejected many times before, it is also a message to local and state governments that we are not going to tolerate any longer elected officials who blatantly act against the will of the people.

We are still a representative form of government, and to quote Abraham Lincoln, "... and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."{the White House, history of presidents}--still remains true.

This is great news. I definitely will sign that - maybe, if time permits - even help gather signatures.

Green and gang have handed out taxpayer money to special interest groups in the area and places a higher priority on handout programs and less priority on the taxpayers.

They have totally mismanaged the county so now we have a financial structure dependent on Federal handouts. No surprise, I've documented the 3 stooge's backgrounds - dropouts, failures in the real world, and totally incompetent backgrounds.

Opposition will come from those that have been on the receiving end of their handouts, as well as illegal aliens, dope heads, etc.

The Lane County Commissioners and other tax supporters are painting a false picture of the financial condition of Lane County. These beneficiaries of county money are crying around over $47 Million. They are threatening to let violent prisoners out of our jails and close our parks.

Sure $47 Million dollars is a big chunk of money, but when you compare it to the 2006-2007 Lane County budget of $492.8 Million, it’s less than 10% of the total budget. I encourage everyone to read the budget and see how these doomsayers are trying to unjustifiably scare us into supporting another tax.

If you look at page E-10 of the budget you will see that the county has currently set aside reserves of $102.5M and typically passes an additional $15M to $20M into this slush-fund each year. The county is not bankrupt.

We need county commissioners that are not entrenched in the county system. We need to start by clearing the board of Bobby Green, Faye Stewart, and Bill Dywer. These commissioners are unwilling to make the tough decisions necessary. Please support all recall efforts.
