Springfield police crackdown on prostitution problem

Straight out of an episode of cops, the men and women of the Springfield police force with television cameras tagging along gear up for an undercover mission... to conquer Springfield's huge prostitution problem.
With undercover police officers posing as prostitutes, they managed to arrest 22 people as a result of the sting.
" As you drive through Downtown Springfield you may not notice it.
But it's out there.
Police say prostitution is a problem.
"Typically for us it's a complaint driven operation. if we receive complaints then we will respond to it," said Captain Rich Harrison, with Springfield Police. "

Woo Hoo!!
You know it just gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that while Eugene/Springfield is considered a high crime area...
cities complaining that they don't have the manpower and money for public safety...
that at least almost 2 dozen John's were taken off the street.
Meanwhile, Salem police get criticized for using bait cars to help catch car thieves

They need to nuke main street. Seriously, just bomb the shit out of main st. from 10th street to Mill St., and glenwood too. Im so sick of all those toothless smelly sacks of shit walking up to my car and talking to me at a red light asking for beer money.

I guess considering Springfield actually spoke to their voters to pass a new 100 bed jail and the hiring of additional officers, it doesn't bother me that they are actually trying to clean up their mess. What is that called, common sense government?

How about a new approach? Why not let the hookers go after the bad cops. Send a thief to catch a thief.... I remember hearing that somewhere.

I guess it bothers me about the whole issue, is when you look at the overall picture, other than being a public nuisance... who are the victims of prostitution?
The other issue is how we use our limited law enforcement resources and what our priorities are.

Personally, I would rather see them set up stings to catch car thieves.

But maybe that is because I'm a little bit biased because we had a car stolen last summer, and a car stolen and a break-in within two months after the place where I work relocated to their new location.

without the prostitutes, the bad cops will pick on citizens they pull over. we've seen that before.

That I have no Respect for the Police, may taint my views. Prostition is a sad thing but not one I want my tax dollers paying too provent, nor do i want to pay for new age arts, mouse and rat studies, best way talk too your kids about alternative life stlyes or any new or oldfasion soical problems. The reason for the taint: In one yaers time I was pulled over by the police 13 times #1 holding the white line too closely #2 failer too stop at a stop sigh #3 failer too make a three second stop at a stop sigh #4 expired tags one day after they expired #5 expired tags three weeks later, I was working 6 days a week and pet it off. #6 eratic driveing note that i did not speed, slow down, swarve or cross any lines or fail too make all the proper signals the officer could not say what i did that was eratic just that i was #7 they had a report of a 4 door white sadan so they pulled me over in my black fiero its a two door #8 no lane change signal when the lane went form 2 to 4 lanes, your supose too segnal what lane your takeing the out side one or the inside #9 pulled over ask if i had ben drinking I said no, then left with out telling why I was pulle over #10 dirty plates #11 thought i might have ben speeding but did not get me on raider #12 went threw on a yellow light #13 Did not stop for a predisting at a cross walk, they ware waiting for a bus but the cop said I should stop and make sure. And now the reason why, I work swing shift. I get off work at 11 pm. the fist thing the cops ask is have you been drinking tonight! Why NO officer I am DIEBETIC it would kill me! The fact that I drive truck 10 hours a day and the only time cops pull me over is the 10 min drive home pass the downtown area and the local bars. tells me cops dont have rnough too do!
