Rep. Charles Rangel's call for military conscription of Americans, age 18 to 42,

Newsday--

Do you think that we should reinstate the draft?
Rep. Charles Rangel thinks so, in fact if he has his way, there will be a call for military conscription of Americans, age 18 to 42.
Said Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi, "Mr. Rangel has long held this position. It's not about a draft, it's about shared sacrifice in our country.

More misdirection from the Peace At Any Cost people. Rangel has tried this approach how many times now? Yet here on his, fourth? attempt he gets massive media coverage. His theory that the well-to-do cabal that secretly causes us to go to war will not do so if their kids are on the line via a draft is ridiculous. He's still living in the 60's where college enrollment was the most popular way of avoiding military service, so the concept of educated and anti-war became inextricably intertwined. These days, I know plenty of well off, educated people in the military.

Plus, as a 43 yr old, I'm rather upset at his 18-42 draft proposal... what's wrong with me? Is he saying I'm feeble and less useful than a 42 year old?

Eddie, You are right about well-off, well educated people being in the military. This is evidenced in the graduates from each of the military academies each year as well as those from VMI and Texas A & M, to name just two.

None of those schools are easy to get through and they do turn out very well educated people.
